Well, why not 100 characters then? I refused to use services that require password of 12 characters. E.g. I don’t use Opera browser exactly due to that insane requirement of 12 character password. In couple of years when chips get faster 12 won’t be enough and they’d require 24 characters. I just do not want to go around and remember different 12 characters passwords for every service I use. Password managers are not an option since by cracking a password manager password you lose all your access data to every service.

They’d better think about other ways to secure access with less characters like not allowing too many sequential tries of a password.
